St. Blaise Church

When looking at the top of this church, you can notice three statues at the top. Two of which represent faith and hope, standing left and right, and the tallest one in the middle, Saint Blaise, the city's patron saint.

The church was built in Baroque style by Venetian architect and sculptor Marino Gropelli in 1715. on the foundations of the badly damaged Romanesque medieval church. The main altar represents one of the finest pieces of Baroque art in the city, with a gothic statue of Saint Blaise, crafted in the 15th century.

This is perhaps the city's most beloved church, and one of the most famous wedding venues. Some of the most important events in the city's life take place on the church's front steps, including New Year's Eve and the opening night of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
