Where to park in Dubrovnik
You cannot drive into the Old Town, so the question is where to leave the car. Here are the public garages and lots, the city zone prices, how to pay, and what is really still free (less than most guides say).
City parking zones and prices
Street and city parking is run by Sanitat Dubrovnik. The price list below applies from 2 June 2025 and was still the current one when we checked. Zone 1 and Zone 3 are charged every day from 06:00 to 22:00 (no free Sundays); Zones 0, 4 and 5 are charged around the clock.

Garages and lots
Ilijina Glavica public garage
- Price:
- EUR 7 or EUR 6 per hour (the operator lists both rates), EUR 40 for 24 hours
- Good to know:
- Open day and night, 711 spaces, height limit 2.10 m. The 24-hour ticket has to be bought within 15 minutes of driving in. It sits outside the Old Town traffic zone, so you need no permit or booking to reach it.

Pile lot (Iza Grada)
- Price:
- Zone 0: EUR 20 for 1 hour, EUR 250 for a multi-hour or daily ticket (May to October); EUR 5 and EUR 51 (November to April)
- Good to know:
- From 1 March to 30 November you can only drive to it with a place booked in advance on Sanitat's prepaid parking site, which adds a 10% handling fee. The closest and by far the dearest option.
- To the Old Town:
- Next to the Pile gate
Cable car lower plateau (Žičara donji plato)
- Price:
- Zone 0: EUR 20 for 1 hour, EUR 250 for a multi-hour or daily ticket (May to October); EUR 5 and EUR 51 (November to April)
- Good to know:
- Inside the Old Town traffic zone: from 1 March to 30 November only with a place booked in advance through Sanitat (10% handling fee).
Gruž waterfront, Zone 1 (opposite Jadrolinija)
- Price:
- EUR 1.30 per hour, EUR 17.25 multi-hour ticket (March to November); EUR 0.70 per hour (December to February)
- Good to know:
- Charged every day 06:00 to 22:00. Pay by SMS to 708201, at the meter or in the apps.
- To the Old Town:
- City bus 1A or 1B to Pile
- Address:
- Obala Stjepana Radića, Gruž
Gruž port car park (Luka Dubrovnik)
- Price:
- EUR 3 per hour, EUR 30 per day (1 May to 30 September); EUR 1.50 per hour, EUR 15 per day (1 October to 30 April)
- Good to know:
- Gated, open around the clock, about 300 places. Take a ticket on the way in and pay before you leave. These prices come from a travel guide, not from the port itself, so check the price at the gate.
- To the Old Town:
- City bus 1A or 1B to Pile
- Address:
- Obala pape Ivana Pavla II 1, Gruž
Lapad and Babin Kuk street parking, Zone 3
- Price:
- EUR 1.30 per hour or EUR 17.30 per day (March to November); EUR 0.70 per hour (December to February)
- Good to know:
- Charged every day 06:00 to 22:00, on streets such as Lapadska obala, Kralja Tomislava, Šetalište Kralja Zvonimira and Iva Dulčića. Pay by SMS to 708203, at the meter or in the apps. Many older guides call Babin Kuk free; the official list says otherwise.
- To the Old Town:
- City bus 6 to Pile
Gospino polje (former Atlas plateau), Zone 5
- Price:
- EUR 1.30 per hour or EUR 20.80 per day (March to November); EUR 0.70 per hour (December to February)
- Good to know:
- Charged around the clock since 18 May 2026, when it stopped being free. Pay at the machine, by SMS to 708203 or in the Bmove web app. Coaches use a separate bus section.
Free parking in and around Dubrovnik
Free parking near the Old Town is rare and changes often, so each place below says exactly what the source says and when we checked it. Places marked "reported free" come from a third party, not the city: treat them as a lead and read the sign.
Street parking in Zones 1 and 3, overnight
- Free:
- Zones 1 and 3 are charged from 06:00 to 22:00 only, so a public street space there costs nothing from 22:00 to 06:00. Pay again from 06:00. This does not apply to Zones 0, 4 and 5 (charged around the clock) or to the residents-only Zone 2.
This is the only free parking an official source confirmed when we checked. We found no public car park that is free in the daytime.
Before you drive in
The Old Town traffic zone: book before you drive in
Since 2 June 2025, from 1 March to 30 November, only some cars may drive into the zone around the Old Town (from Ilijina Glavica along Zagrebačka to Viktorija, and from Pile to Boninovo): cars with a place booked at the Pile or cable car lots, guests of hotels inside the zone, and cars whose host registered the plate in advance. If you stay inside the zone, send your host your plate number before you arrive. The Ilijina Glavica garage is outside the zone.
How to pay
Street tickets are sold at the meters, by SMS (Zone 1: 708201, Zones 3 and 5: 708203), in the Bmove and Dubrovnik Parking apps and at Tisak kiosks. Zone 0 (Pile and the cable car lot) has no SMS payment: it is paid or booked on Sanitat's prepaid parking site.
Places that are no longer free
Mokošica became paid Zone 3 parking on 11 May 2026 and Gospino polje paid Zone 5 on 18 May 2026. Babin Kuk, Lapad and the Zaton waterfront are on the official Zone 3 list. Guides that still send you there for free parking are out of date.
From the car to the Old Town by bus
Libertas city buses stop at Pile. A ticket bought from the driver is EUR 2.50 for one ride; a 1-hour ticket is EUR 1.73 and a 24-hour ticket EUR 5.31.
Towing
A badly parked car can be towed. For a car up to 1,500 kg the towing fee is EUR 66.36, and half of that if you get back before the car is taken away.
